Old Eagle Inn

Traditionally known as a staging post on the canal, this site will now have a new lease of life as a canal-related museum, visitor attraction and café.

Designed to reinforce Kirkintilloch’s desire to be seen as the “canal capital” of Scotland, the centre will encourage local people as well as tourists and canal users to explore the area’s heritage and attractions. Mooring facilities and canalside improvements will complete the picture.

Nearby, at Barleybank by St Mary’s church, a new civic space incorporating car parking and offering a venue for a wide variety of uses - from exhibitions and craft fairs - will be developed.
